A frontline senatorial aspirant for Adamawa South Senatorial District, Chief Peter Leonard Fwa, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary race ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Chief Fwa announced his resignation on Friday during a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Yola, just four days before the scheduled APC senatorial primary election.

Addressing journalists, the former aspirant attributed his decision to what he described as disturbing developments surrounding the conduct of the party’s primary process in Adamawa South Senatorial Zone.

According to him, the build-up to the primary election has departed from the principles of fairness, transparency, and justice expected in a democratic process.

“I have watched with deep concern how the build-up to the primaries has unfolded. The process has lost its credibility and no longer reflects the values of equity and justice that should guide internal party democracy,” Chief Fwa stated.

He noted that after wide consultations with his political associates and supporters, he decided to withdraw from the race and formally end his membership with the APC.

Although he did not disclose his next political destination, Chief Fwa urged his supporters across the zone to remain calm, focused, and hopeful, assuring them that consultations are ongoing on the next line of action.

“This is not the end of the struggle for good representation. I will not abandon our collective dream. We are still in the game, just on a different path,” he added.

The development is expected to reshape the political landscape ahead of the APC senatorial primary for Adamawa South, which is scheduled to hold in the coming days.

Political observers say Chief Fwa’s exit may influence alignments within the party and among supporters in the zone as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
