APC Secretary Ribadu Tackles Ex-Information Commissioner Iyawa Over “Misleading” Article

The Adamawa State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, has strongly condemned a recent article penned by former State Information Commissioner, Aminu Iyawa, describing the publication as misleading, politically motivated, and capable of inciting ethnic tensions.

Ribadu was reacting to Iyawa’s piece titled “The King Who Fell to the Mosquito,” which he claims unfairly targets Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration with baseless criticism.

In a statement issued in Yola on recently Ribadu accused Iyawa of promoting ethnic division and deliberately misrepresenting the governance record of Governor Fintiri. He insisted that the Governor has maintained an inclusive administration through strategic appointments and development projects that cut across ethnic and religious lines.

“The Fintiri administration has demonstrated commitment to unity and fairness. To suggest otherwise is not only false but dangerous,” Ribadu said.

The APC secretary further expressed concern over Iyawa’s repeated use of the word “mosquito” in the article, warning that such figurative language could fuel unnecessary political tension in the state.

Ribadu also defended Governor Fintiri’s 2023 re-election victory, reminding the public that the Supreme Court had already upheld the mandate, putting to rest any legal disputes over the poll.

In a sharp twist, Ribadu accused Iyawa of hypocrisy, recalling that Iyawa and key members of the former Nyako administration had once supported Fintiri during the 2014 political crisis that led to the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako.

“It is ironic that the same individuals who stood with Fintiri a decade ago are now the ones attacking him,” Ribadu noted.

He called on politicians across party lines in Adamawa State to avoid divisive rhetoric and instead focus on peace, unity, and development.

Efforts to reach Aminu Iyawa for a response were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
