Adamawa: Ex-Information Chief Kumangar Slams Opposition Over ‘Sour Grapes’ Politics, Calls for Continuity
A former Director General of Media and Communications to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and former Permanent Secretary in the Adamawa State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Solomon Kumangar, has taken a swipe at opposition elements in the state, accusing them of engaging in what he described as “infantile, bitter ‘bad belle’ politics and sour grapes.”
In a statement in Yola, Kumangar warned that opposition figures must desist from condemning every government policy, including those yielding positive results, simply because they are not at the helm of affairs.

“You cannot wish Adamawa bad simply because you want to win an election. You cannot condemn every policy, even those clearly yielding positive results, just because you are not the one at the helm. We are wiser than that,” he said.
The former media aide emphasized that a healthy democracy requires constructive engagement rather than blind opposition, urging critics to acknowledge good governance when they see it.
“When government does well, say it. When reforms work, commend it. Opposition should not be about blind disagreement,” Kumangar stated.
He further stressed the need for political maturity in the state, arguing that Adamawa requires continuity rather than disruption.
“Adamawa needs continuity, not disruption. It needs reformers, not pretenders. Let’s take a close, dispassionate look at the contenders — not pretenders — and elect the one that has demonstrated statesmanship,” he added.
Kumangar’s remarks come amid heightened political activity in Adamawa State ahead of forthcoming elections, with the ruling APC and opposition parties trading barbs over the administration’s performance.
Political analysts say the statement reflects the growing tension between the state government and opposition camps, with each side seeking to shape public perception ahead of the polls.
