Adamawa Deputy Governor Lauds Varsity Collaboration As ADSU, MAU Sign Landmark MoU

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has witnessed the signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi, and Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, aimed at strengthening academic activities and fostering knowledge sharing between the two institutions.

The ceremony, which took place at the Abubakar Barde Campus of ADSU, Mubi, saw the Vice Chancellors of both universities—Professor Clement Augustine (ADSU) and Professor Ibrahim Umar Bobboi (MAU)—affix their signatures to the pact, which covers a wide spectrum of academic and research collaborations.

Speaking at the event, Professor Farauta commended the two universities for what she described as an impactful collaboration and friendship. She charged the academia to remain committed to ensuring that students acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills.

“The government will continue to provide the necessary support to both institutions with the view to making them world-class universities,” the Deputy Governor reassured.

She also placed heavy emphasis on the importance of supervision, advising the universities to dedicate themselves to broadening the horizon of knowledge for the benefit of the state and the nation.

In their separate remarks, the Vice Chancellors outlined the scope of the agreement. Professor Clement Augustine of ADSU and Professor Ibrahim Umar Bobboi of MAU disclosed that the MoU covers Joint Post Graduate Supervision and Joint Research between the two universities. Other critical areas include staff development, sabbatical placements, and facility sharing.

A major highlight of the pact is the focus on livestock development, with special attention to artificial insemination of local breeds. The agreement also includes the introduction of medical and allied science courses to train more medical doctors, staff development through the Centre for Peace and Security, and the expansion of agricultural courses.

Both institutions thereafter reiterated their commitment to the smooth commencement and full implementation of the sealed accord.
