International Women’s Day celebrated with cultural showcase in Yola

Adamawa State was
aglow with a display of cultural diversity as the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Umaru Fintiri, through the fresh air pro life empowerment foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs organized a commemoration event in honor of International Women’s Day.

The event, which took place at Ribadu square c was attended by women from various cultural backgrounds, including bachama, mbula, lunguda, and yungur, among others.

The display of colorful traditional outfits, vibrant dances, and delicious traditional foods highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the women in Adamawa State.

Hajiya Lami Umaru Fintiri emphasized the importance of celebrating and promoting cultural diversity in order to build a more inclusive and harmonious society.

She urged women to embrace and celebrate their differences, while also working together to achieve gender equality and empowerment.

The governor’s wife therefore called on women to align themselves with this year’s global theme invest in women accelerate progress which serves as a poignant reminder of the pivotal role women play in shaping the destiny of the nation.

The event also featured speeches from various dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Wunfe Anthony represented by a director in the ministry Mrs Anna Alahira who reiterated the commitment of the state government to promoting the rights and welfare of women in Adamawa State.

The commissioner therefore implore women to continue to key into the Laudable initiatives and ideas of the present administration.

The commemoration event served as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of women from diverse cultural backgrounds, coming together to celebrate their achievements and advocate for a more equitable and just society.
