Governor Fintiri Approves 21 Community Markets To Boost Trade Across Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has given approval for the construction of 21 community markets across the state’s Local Government Areas (LGAs), a move aimed at revitalizing local commerce and enhancing the safety of traders.

Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta disclosed this on Wednesday during an on-site inspection of a proposed market location in Numan Local Government Area. Addressing journalists at the venue, the Deputy Governor explained that the initiative is part of the administration’s broader strategy to stimulate economic activity at the grassroots level.

“These markets are designed to provide a centralized and organized space where individuals and corporate businesses can thrive across the LGAs,” Professor Farauta stated. “This is about creating an enabling environment for commerce to flourish in every part of the state.”

While inspecting the designated site, Professor Farauta issued a firm directive to the newly elected chairmen of the respective local councils, urging them to ensure the timely delivery and completion of the projects. She assured stakeholders that the state government has made adequate budgetary provisions and that funds would be made available to facilitate the construction without delays.

In a related development, the Deputy Governor also conducted an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of the Numan Zonal Library, a project designed to boost educational infrastructure. She expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on the facility, which is being rebuilt to accommodate 150 readers.

“I am impressed with the level of work done so far. We are committed to providing learning resources and conducive environments for our students and the reading public,” she noted.

Responding to the announcement, the Chairman of Numan Local Government, Zamgopwa Zidon, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for the gesture. He highlighted that the new market would ensure a coordinated business environment and significantly improve the safety of traders who have historically been forced to conduct business along busy roadsides.
