Fintiri Celebrates Democracy Day, Pays Tribute To Nation’s Heroes

Calls for Unity, Patience as Nigeria Marks June 12

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has joined all Nigerians in celebrating this year’s Democracy Day on June 12, describing the date as a powerful symbol of resilience, sacrifice, and the triumph of the people’s will in the nation’s collective journey to statehood.

In a statement released by his chief press secretary Humwashi Wonosikou to mark the occasion, Governor Fintiri paid glowing tribute to the heroes of Nigeria’s democracy, both living and departed, whose struggles and sacrifices laid the foundation for the democratic governance the nation enjoys today. He noted that June 12 remains a watershed moment in Nigeria’s political history and an enduring reminder that power truly belongs to the people.

Reflecting on his administration’s progress, the Governor stated that over the last seven years, Adamawa State has recorded significant strides in the provision of infrastructure with direct impact on the economy and the well-being of citizens. “This is a demonstration that democracy can indeed work for the people,” he said.

“As we mark this year’s Democracy Day, I call for the continued support, patience, and cooperation of all citizens of Adamawa State and Nigeria at large,” Governor Fintiri urged. “With your support, we can consolidate our gains and provide even more dividends of democracy that will uplift our communities, strengthen our economy, and secure a better future for our children.”

The Governor passionately called on all Nigerians to work together toward a successful democratic transition that will further consolidate democracy and strengthen institutions. “The challenges of today cannot and will not overwhelm our great country. We are a people defined by resilience, courage, and hope. If we stand united, Nigeria will emerge stronger,” he declared.

He urged Nigerians to remain united, peaceful, and committed to democratic ideals, stressing that the challenges of nation-building require collective effort, tolerance, and patriotism.

“Democracy is not an event but a process. Let us all play our part to deepen it, protect it, and ensure that it delivers prosperity, justice, and dignity for every Nigerian,” the Governor added.
