SWAN Adamawa Seeks Partnership with Post Primary Schools Management

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Adamawa State Chapter, has sought a stronger partnership and support from the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB) to enhance sports development and promote youth participation in sporting activities across the state.

The appeal was made during a courtesy visit by the newly constituted Caretaker Committee of SWAN Adamawa Chapter to the management of the board in Yola.

Leading the delegation, the Caretaker Committee Chairperson, Victoria Taduwokai, who was accompanied by the committee Secretary, Ishaka Donald Dedan, and member, Elkanah Bulus Wadili, informed the board that the committee was recently constituted by the national leadership of the association to oversee the affairs of the chapter for three months pending the election of the new executives.

Taduwokai emphasized the importance of collaboration between SWAN and the Post Primary Schools Management Board, noting that the board plays a critical role in shaping the educational and sports development of students across Adamawa State.

According to her, SWAN has consistently championed the promotion of sports participation among secondary school students, describing sports as an effective tool for engaging young people positively and steering them away from idleness and other social vices.

She also used the occasion to brief the board on the forthcoming National Delegates Conference of SWAN, where new national executives of the association will be elected.

Taduwokai disclosed that Comrade Samuel Gangwaja, a former Chairman of SWAN in Adamawa State, is contesting for the position of North-East Zonal Vice President.

The SWAN Chairperson therefore appealed to the board for support towards the national election scheduled to hold from August 25 to 29, 2026, in Kaduna State.

Responding, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board, Birsan Penuel commended SWAN for its commitment to sports development and youth engagement in Nigeria.

He assured the association of the board’s readiness to sustain its partnership with SWAN in advancing sports development within secondary schools and the wider society.

Penuel noted that the media remain indispensable in promoting development, accountability, and freedom, stressing that sports journalism has a significant role to play in nurturing sporting talents and encouraging public participation in sports.

Also speaking, the Director of School Sports, PPSMB, Julius Christopher, described the longstanding relationship between his department and SWAN as mutually beneficial.

 He pledged to strengthen the collaboration to further enhance sports development and talent discovery across Adamawa State.

The National Welfare Officer of SWAN, Austin Ajayi, alongside other members of the association, formed part of the delegation that paid the visit.
