SWAN Adamawa Holds Strategic Meeting Ahead of National Elections, Reaffirms Commitment to Unity and Professionalism

The Members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Adamawa State Chapter, has held a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening unity, promoting professionalism, and enhancing collaboration among members as preparations gather momentum for the forthcoming SWAN national elections.

The meeting, which brought together key executives and stakeholders of the association, provided an opportunity to deliberate on issues affecting sports journalism in the state and to chart a course toward building a more vibrant and united chapter.

Discussions centered on members’ welfare, capacity building, ethical sports reporting, and strategies to encourage greater participation in sporting activities across Adamawa State.

Speaking during the meeting, veteran sports journalist, Victoria Tadawakai, emphasized the importance of unity and collective responsibility in advancing the objectives of the association. She urged members to remain committed to the ideals of professionalism, mutual respect, and teamwork in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The gathering also reviewed plans and strategies for effective coverage of sporting events across the state and reaffirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in promoting sports development.

As the sporting season approaches, the National Welfare Officer of SWAN, Austine Ajayi, expressed optimism that a united and focused membership would contribute significantly to the growth of sports and sports journalism in Adamawa State.

In the same vein, former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ishaka Donald Dedan, spoke on the way forward for sports journalism in the state. He stressed the need for members to remain actively engaged in sports reportage and commended both past and present leaderships of SWAN for their relentless efforts toward the upliftment of the Adamawa State chapter.

Members also took time to appreciate the immediate past Chairman of SWAN Adamawa State Chapter, Samuel Gangwaja, for his tremendous support, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the growth and unity of sports journalism in the state. The meeting wished him continued success and greater achievements in all his future endeavors.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by members to work together in fostering a stronger, more cohesive, and progressive SWAN chapter, dedicated to advancing sports journalism and supporting sports development across Adamawa State.
