Nassarawo-Binyeri Residents Protest APC Ticket, Demand Reinstatement of Hon. Babangida Njidda

Residents of Nassarawo-Binyeri Constituency in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area have staged a peaceful protest against the emergence of Mr. Eli Panti Filibus as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Adamawa State House of Assembly, calling on the party’s National Working Committee to withdraw his name ahead of the 2027 elections.

The demonstrators marched through major streets of Nassarawo-Jerreng carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs in support of the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Babangida Njidda, whom they described as a performing representative with a strong record of community development.

Protesters said the outcome of the recently concluded APC primary did not reflect the wishes of party members in the constituency, and warned that the decision could affect unity within the local chapter if left unaddressed.

Speaking at the rally, community member Abubakar Mohammed Inuwa questioned the eligibility of Mr. Filibus to contest for the seat. He alleged that Filibus is not from Nassarawo-Binyeri and lacks the grassroots connection needed to represent the area effectively.

“The constituency deserves a representative who understands its challenges and has a long-standing relationship with the people,” Inuwa said.

Another resident, Albashir Umar, defended Hon. Njidda’s tenure, citing visible projects and consistent engagement with constituents.

“We have seen the impact of Hon. Babangida’s representation in our communities. The people are satisfied with his performance and want him to continue,” Umar said.

Community leader Bulus Njobdi, joined by the constituency women leader and several women’s groups, appealed directly to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the APC national leadership to intervene.

The leaders described the protest as peaceful and intended to draw attention to what they called an anomaly in the candidate selection process, urging a review that aligns with the will of the grassroots.

The protesters said they remain loyal to the APC but insisted that only the reinstatement of Hon. Babangida Njidda as the party’s candidate would preserve confidence in the party ahead of the 2027 State Assembly elections.
