Fintiri Warns LG Chairmen Against Misuse of Agricultural Tractors

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has issued a strong warning to local government council chairmen against the misuse or diversion of agricultural tractors procured by the state government to boost farming activities and improve food security.

The governor gave the warning while commissioning 42 brand-new tractors at the Adamawa State Agricultural Mechanization Authority, Kofare, in Yola South Local Government Area. The tractors have been allocated to the 21 local government areas, with two per council.

Governor Fintiri stressed that the tractors were strictly provided to enhance agricultural production across the state and must not be used for personal benefits or diverted for unauthorized purposes.

“Anyone found culpable will face the full consequences of such actions,” the governor said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s continued commitment to accountability, transparency, and the proper utilization of all agricultural interventions introduced by the government to improve food security and the well-being of the people.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Commissioner of Agriculture, Sali Idris, said the initiative reflects Governor Fintiri’s commitment to agricultural transformation, youth empowerment, and rural development.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Yayaji Mijinyawa, commended the governor for the timely intervention, describing it as a major boost to this year’s farming season.

In a remark, Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Adamawa State chapter, Suleiman Ahmed Gangkuba, assured the judicious distribution and utilization of the tractors.
