Governor Fintiri Forwards Names Of Commissioner Nominees, ADSIEC Member To Assembly For Screening

The Adamawa State House of Assembly is set to screen three new commissioner nominees and a nominee for the state’s electoral body, following the receipt of official communications from Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, read two separate letters from the Governor during Tuesday’s plenary session at the Assembly Complex in Yola.

In the first correspondence, Governor Fintiri formally submitted the names of three nominees for appointment as Commissioners. The nominees are Sali Idris (representing Maiha Local Government Area), Engr. Mohammed Suleiman (representing Mubi North Local Government Area), and Chubado Mohammed (representing Jada Local Government Area).

The governor is seeking the Assembly’s concurrence to screen the nominees for confirmation, paving the way for their appointment as commissioners in the state.

In a separate letter, the Governor forwarded the name of Iliya Gaji (from Mubi North Local Government Area) for legislative screening and confirmation as a member of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC).

Following the presentation, Speaker Bathiya Wesley directed the Clerk of the House to immediately communicate with the nominees.

According to the Speaker’s directive, all four nominees are to appear before the House for screening. They have been instructed to present themselves along with their curriculum vitae and other relevant credentials.

The screening exercise is scheduled to take place on Monday, 9th March 2026. The session is expected to assess the nominees’ qualifications and suitability for the respective positions.
