Tribunal Upholds Hon. Misa Musa Jauro’s Election for Ganye constituency

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Yola has affirmed Hon. Misa Musa Jauro of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected member representing Ganye Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

In a ruling delivered today Wednesday 4th February, 2026, the three-man tribunal panel dismissed the petition filed by Barrister Buba Mohammed Joda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which challenged the outcome of the August 2025 by-election.

The tribunal, in its judgment, held that the petition lacked merit and failed to provide sufficient, credible evidence to warrant the nullification of the election. It further declared that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act and other relevant guidelines.

Hon. Misa Musa Jauro had been declared the winner of the closely contested poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), securing 15,923 votes to edge out his PDP rival, who polled 15,794 votes—a narrow victory margin of 129 votes.

The petitioner had approached the tribunal seeking to overturn the results, but the court found the grounds of the petition insufficient.

With this ruling, the legal dispute over the Ganye constituency seat has been laid to rest, affirming the mandate initially given by the electorate. The decision has been hailed by political observers as a reinforcement of democratic tenets and a testament to the integrity of the electoral process in the state.

Following the judgment, supporters of Hon. Jauro erupted in celebration across Ganye.
