Governor Fintiri Tasks New Corps Members on Skills Acquisition, Self-Reliance

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has officially inaugurated 1,885 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream One orientation course, charging them to embrace entrepreneurship for sustainable livelihood.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, at the formal swearing-in ceremony at the state’s orientation camp in Damare, Girei, stated that the three-week exercise marks the crucial beginning of their service year.

Professor Farauta, emphasized that the orientation course is designed to shape their discipline, skills, and mindset for the tasks ahead. He described it as a foundational programme that prepares them physically and mentally, inspiring them to discover and develop their innate potentials.
“Your successful graduation from various institutions reflects your discipline and commitment. You must demonstrate this throughout your orientation course and service year,” the governor stated.

Professor Farauta, further elaborating, urged the corps members to participate in the camp activities with enthusiasm, discipline, and determination. She specifically encouraged them to take full advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme introduced in the camp.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Adamawa State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Caroline Osoroh Chinedu, commended Governor Fintiri for his consistent and multifaceted support to the scheme in the state. She reaffirmed the scheme’s continuous support and confidence in the governor’s leadership.

Mrs. Chinedu also reminded the newly posted corps members of the imperative of discipline and adherence to the NYSC bylaws.
“Let me remind you to uphold the core values of the scheme. Any corps member found violating the NYSC bye-laws will face appropriate disciplinary action,” the Coordinator warned.

The orientation course, which commenced few days ago, features drills, lectures, and skill-based training sessions aimed at preparing the young graduates for the one-year national service and life beyond.
