Adamawa’s Fintiri Business Wallet Programme Hits 94% Success Rate, Says PAWECA DG

The Director General of the Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Dr. Michael Zira, has announced that the flagship Fintiri Business Wallet Programme has achieved a ninety-four percent (94%) success rate following its recent disbursement cycle.

Dr. Zira made the disclosure during a press briefing held at the agency’s headquarters in Yola on Thursday, addressing both the programme’s successes and challenges encountered during the rollout.

A significant issue highlighted was beneficiaries who received payments but remained unaware. “Our transaction records show successful payments, but several beneficiaries did not get bank alerts,” Dr. Zira explained. He urged recipients to physically verify their account balances with their banks to confirm receipt of funds.

Addressing widespread complaints of failed transactions, the DG revealed a startling finding: out of over 5,000 complaints received, 815 were identified as fake. “These complaints had no corresponding records in PAWECA’s database,” he stated, emphasizing the agency’s rigorous verification process.

With the programme’s data capture phase now officially closed, Dr. Zira confirmed that the agency would only address complaints that have been duly verified and documented in its system.

In a firm stance against corruption, the PAWECA boss announced sanctions against individuals involved in racketeering and other sharp practices associated with the programme. “We have taken decisive action against those attempting to undermine this initiative meant for the genuine empowerment of our people,” he declared.

Dr. Zira also commended the unwavering commitment of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose vision, he said, continues to drive the programme. “Governor Fintiri believes, and the results show, that this initiative is making a meaningful economic and social impact across Adamawa State,” he added.

Looking forward, the DG announced that payments for the final batch of screened and approved complaints would commence next Monday. He concluded by advising all beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously. “This capital is intended to support your businesses and improve your livelihoods. We urge you to use it for its designated purpose to ensure sustainable growth,” Dr. Zira said.

The Fintiri Business Wallet Programme is a cornerstone of the state government’s efforts to stimulate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and reduce poverty through direct business grants.
