BF360 Foundation Inaugurates Technical Working Group on MHHM Policy

The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, in collaboration with Big Family 360 Foundation, with support from FOS Feminista and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), has inaugurated the Adamawa State Technical Working Group (TWG) on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM) Policy.

The event, themed “Accelerating the Implementation of Menstrual Hygiene Policies in Adamawa State,” was held at the Women Development Center, Yola, bringing together government representatives, civil society organizations, faith-based organizations, persons with disabilities, and consortium partners committed to improving menstrual health outcomes across the state.

he meeting officially began with registration,  and national anthem, followed by introductions and a warm welcome from the Head of Operations, Big Family 360 Foundation.

Goodwill messages were delivered by dignitaries including the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Zira, who commended all partners for their dedication to women’s health and emphasized that menstrual hygiene is an essential part of public health and dignity.

The formal inauguration of the Technical Working Group was conducted by the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, who reiterated the ministry’s commitment to supporting policies that promote the wellbeing and empowerment of women and girls across Adamawa State.

The newly inaugurated Adamawa State Technical Working Group on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM) is a multi-sectoral coordination platform made up of: Government Ministries: Women Affairs, Health, Justice, Information, and Budget & Planning, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
,Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), Persons with Disabilities (PWDs),Consortium Partners and Media Agency

This inclusive team is tasked with promoting collaboration, policy alignment, and sustained advocacy around menstrual health programming in the state.

The purpose of the Adamawa State TWG on MHHM is to coordinate and strengthen multi-sectoral collaboration for the effective domestication and implementation of the National MHHM Policy at the state level.

The TWG also aims to provide strategic guidance, technical support, and evidence-based recommendations to government institutions and stakeholders to ensure equitable and efficient delivery of menstrual health programs.

The inauguration of the Adamawa State TWG on MHHM marks a milestone in menstrual health advocacy and coordination within the state. With representation from key ministries, partners, and stakeholders, the TWG is positioned to ensure that menstrual health remains a public health and human rights priority.

Through continued collaboration and technical support from FOS Feminista and AFD, and the leadership of Big Family 360 Foundation, the state is setting a strong example for inclusive policy implementation  ensuring that no girl or woman is left behind due to period poverty or stigma.
