PDP Holds 102nd NEC Meeting in Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday convened its 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Images released on the PDP’s official social media handles showed governors, party leaders, and stakeholders arriving for the highly anticipated session, which commenced at 2:00 p.m.

According to sources within the party, the meeting is expected to deliberate on crucial matters, including the report of the National Zoning Committee and strategic preparations ahead of the PDP’s national convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, where new national officers will be elected.

Party insiders described today’s gathering as a turning point for the PDP, stressing its importance in shaping the party’s direction as it positions itself for the 2027 general election. They emphasized that the meeting underscores the PDP’s renewed drive to present itself as a viable opposition and reclaim power at the federal level.

Another key item on the agenda is the fate of some prominent members accused of anti-party activities. These include the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom. The Tom Ikimi-led disciplinary committee has already submitted its report to the National Working Committee (NWC), recommending disciplinary actions against members found culpable of working against the PDP during the last general elections.

The outcome of today’s deliberations is expected to signal how the party intends to enforce internal discipline, strengthen unity, and rally support in the run-up to the 2027 polls.
