First Lady, NEDC Launch Agricultural Support Programme for Adamawa Farmers

The Wife of Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, in collaboration with the North East Development Commission (NEDC), has commenced the distribution of tractors, fertilisers, and other farm inputs to farmers in the Northern Senatorial Zone of Adamawa State.

The initiative, launched at the Jika Mana Conference Hall in Mubi North Local Government Area, is targeting beneficiaries from Michika, Madagali, Maiha, Mubi North, and Mubi South Local Government Areas.

In her address at the ceremony, Hajiya Lami Fintiri explained that the intervention was designed to strengthen farming activities, boost agricultural output, and contribute to food security across the state.

She called on beneficiaries to utilise the equipment and inputs responsibly and for their intended purposes, emphasising that the support was aimed at improving productivity and enhancing the livelihoods of farming communities.

According to the First Lady, the programme reflects the commitment of the Adamawa State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to empower farmers, promote sustainable livelihoods, and create opportunities for economic growth.

She further expressed appreciation to the NEDC for its partnership, noting that the collaboration would facilitate the extension of agricultural support to more communities and strengthen food production in the state.

The Chairman of Mubi North Local Government Council, Musa Hassan, welcomed the initiative and commended the First Lady and the NEDC for including communities in the Northern Senatorial Zone among the beneficiaries.

He observed that access to tractors, fertilisers, and other agricultural inputs would ease some of the challenges confronting farmers, improve cultivation, and contribute to increased food production.

Similarly, the Chairman of Michika Local Government Council, Dan Biyu Tumba, described the intervention as timely, particularly given the rising cost of agricultural inputs.

He thanked the First Lady for the initiative, stating that the provision of farm support would assist farmers in the zone to increase production and reduce the financial burden associated with farming.

Some beneficiaries also expressed appreciation for the support, describing the inputs as a boost to their farming activities. They said the assistance would help improve yields and reduce production costs, while pledging to make judicious use of the materials.

The agricultural support programme is expected to enhance farming activities in the benefiting local government areas and contribute to the state’s broader efforts to improve food security, empower rural communities, and strengthen livelihoods across Adamawa State.
