Adamawa Govt Relocates NECO Centres Over Security Concerns

The Adamawa State Government has ordered the immediate relocation of National Examinations Council (NECO) centres in several schools considered vulnerable, following heightened security concerns in the region.

The directive, contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Development, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Umar, comes in the wake of the abduction of students and teachers in neighbouring Borno State on June 29, 2026.

The government described the relocation as a precautionary measure to protect the lives of candidates, teachers, invigilators, supervisors and NECO officials, while ensuring the smooth conduct of the ongoing examinations.

Hajiya Umar stressed that the decision was taken in the best interest of the state and the safety of its children and teachers, adding that the relocation would remain in effect until the security situation improves.

The following schools and their new examination centres are affected:

· Government Day Secondary School Mukuvinyi to Government Day Secondary School Hildi

The ministry appealed to the management of all affected schools, members of the public and NECO officials to cooperate fully with the directive. School authorities and community leaders have been urged to ensure strict compliance with the relocation order with immediate effect.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students and ensuring that academic activities continue in a safe and secure environment.
