Adamawa Police Deploy Personnel, Restrict Movement Ahead of Saturday’s LG Elections

The Adamawa State Police Command has deployed security personnel and operational assets across all 21 local government areas ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the deployment covers polling units, ward collation centres, and local government collation centres to ensure a peaceful, credible, free, and fair electoral process.

The Command also announced a restriction on human and vehicular movement throughout the state from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Election Day. Accredited electoral officials, election observers, media practitioners on election duties, emergency responders, and other authorised personnel are exempted from the restriction.

As part of security measures, the Police prohibited the participation of vigilante groups, hunters, Civilian JTF members, and other local security outfits in election security operations, stressing that only recognised security agencies will be allowed to provide security during the exercise.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, FDC, called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act and other relevant electoral guidelines.

He also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against being used as political thugs, while warning against the display of political banners, posters, and branded vehicles at polling units.

The Command warned that anyone involved in voter intimidation, electoral violence, vote-buying, ballot box snatching, or destruction of electoral materials would be arrested and prosecuted. It reaffirmed its commitment, alongside other security agencies, to ensuring a peaceful and successful election across the state.
