ADSIEC Holds Strategic Meeting with Security Agencies Ahead of June 13 LG Polls

The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) on Monday convened a crucial strategic meeting with security agencies at its headquarters in Yola, as part of measures to ensure a peaceful, credible, and successful conduct of the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Addressing stakeholders at the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, reaffirmed that ADSIEC has made adequate preparations for the polls and remains fully committed to delivering a free and fair election across the state’s 21 local government areas.

According to the chairman, the commission has undertaken a series of preparatory activities, including the screening of candidates in January, consultations with political parties, procurement of election materials, and the production of ballot papers, ballot boxes, result sheets, and other essential items required for the exercise.

Alhaji Umar disclosed that all election materials—both sensitive and non-sensitive—are already in the commission’s custody. He added that distribution to the various local government areas would commence on Thursday to ensure timely deployment ahead of Saturday’s election.

The ADSIEC chairman revealed that 11 political parties would participate in the election: APC, APP, APM, SDP, ADC, PDP, YPP, BOOT, ACCORD, NNPP, and AP. While all 11 parties have fielded councillorship candidates, only four political parties have presented candidates for both chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state.

Emphasising the critical role of security agencies, Alhaji Umar stressed that effective collaboration between the commission and security stakeholders is essential to maintaining peace and order before, during, and after the polls. He expressed optimism that the election would be peaceful, transparent, and acceptable to all stakeholders.
