Adamawa United FC Retain Federation Cup with Narrow Victory Over Adamawa Academy

Adamawa United FC continued their impressive run of form this season, clinching the 2026 edition of the Federation Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Adamawa Academy at the State Stadium on Saturday.

The only goal of the match arrived in the 60th minute, when Simon Galstone found the back of the net to seal the win and ensure that Adamawa United successfully retained the coveted trophy. With this victory, the club will now represent Adamawa State at the National Federation Cup in the coming weeks.

Speaking to sports journalists shortly after the final whistle, Adamawa United FC Secretary, Dr. Yusuf Chidama, extended his congratulations to the team for their resilience and dedication throughout the season.

“I commend the players and technical crew for their unwavering commitment,” Dr. Chidama said. “I urge them to keep the flag flying by going all the way to win the National Federation Cup.”

The National Federation Cup stands as one of Nigeria’s premier football competitions, featuring registered football clubs from all tiers of the country’s league system. The winner of the tournament later this year will earn the right to represent Nigeria in the CAF Winners’ Cup competition.

Adamawa United’s successful cup campaign follows a strong league showing, though the club narrowly missed promotion to Nigeria’s elite division. They finished second in Group D of the Nigeria National League—the second tier of Nigerian football—behind group winners Ranchers Bees.

With state glory already secured, all eyes will now be on the team as they prepare to carry Adamawa’s hopes onto the national stage.
