The Office of the Wife of the Governor, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, has successfully organized a two-day capacity-building workshop on Stress Management and Body Mechanism for female stakeholders from various sectors across Adamawa State.

Held at the Alheri Royal Hotel Conference Hall in Yola, the programme brought together women leaders, professionals, and public officeholders to address the growing challenges of stress and physical wellness in a fast-paced world.

Speaking at the closing session, the Governor’s Wife, Hajiya Dr. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, expressed delight at the impressive turnout of distinguished women who play key roles in the state’s development. She described the workshop as a timely and important intervention, especially in an era where many women manage multiple responsibilities at home, in the workplace, and within their communities.

Dr. Fintiri explained that the workshop was designed to promote physical wellness, strengthen emotional resilience, and improve workplace productivity. She noted that a healthy woman is better equipped to serve her family and society effectively, adding that the knowledge gained would positively impact the many lives the participants influence.

“Stress management is not optional—it is essential for maintaining good health and preventing burnout. Understanding how the body reacts to stress and learning practical coping strategies will help women live healthier, more balanced lives,” she said.

Hajiya Lami encouraged participants to remain open-minded and committed to applying what they had learned, urging them to support one another, build strong networks, and promote a culture of wellness among women across the state. She reaffirmed her commitment to initiatives that empower women—not only economically and socially, but also in terms of health and overall well-being.

She urged women to take their mental well-being seriously as a key step toward living longer, healthier lives.

The workshop featured expert presentations on both general and medical aspects of stress management.

Dr. Jiddere M. Kaibo and Jummai Ibrahim, Deputy Chief Registrar of the Probate High Court of Justice, Yola (representing the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman), spoke on the general understanding of stress and its effects.

Dr. Stephen John, a public health expert and Director of Planning, Research and Statistics at the Adamawa State Ministry of Health, delivered an insightful session on the medical perspective of stress management and body function.

The event was attended by key government officials and women leaders, with participants expressing deep appreciation for the initiative and committing to apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives.
