Hasso Unveils Plan to Form Volleyball Development Committee for North East Zone

The North East Zonal Representative of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Steven Hasso, has announced plans to establish a Volleyball Development Committee aimed at ensuring the smooth coordination of the game across the zone.

DCP Hasso (retired), who also serves as the Adamawa State Chairman of the Volleyball Association, revealed the initiative during an interview with Camaa TV. According to him, the proposed committee will bring together key stakeholders, including all six directors of sports from the zone, one most senior coach from each state, and all chairmen of the volleyball associations within the North East.

“The committee’s primary mandate is to source funds for volleyball development,” Hasso stated.

In a further push to elevate the sport, the retired police chief announced that Local Government Coordinators will be appointed to facilitate easy administration of the game at the grassroots level. Additionally, volleyball coaches will be deployed for scouting and recruitment of talented players.

Speaking on Adamawa’s male volleyball team, the Spikers—currently competing in Division 1—Hasso pledged increased support and encouragement to help the team secure promotion to the Premier League.

On beach volleyball, DCP Hasso, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission, said machinery is already being put in place to raise the standard of the game in Adamawa and the entire North East region. He expressed satisfaction over the rising profile of beach volleyball and commended Engineer Musa Nimrod, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, for his unwavering support in developing the sport across the country.
