ADC Dismisses Court Order Claims, Proceeds with Congresses in Adamawa

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing congresses in Adamawa State, dismissing reports suggesting that a court order has halted the process.

Speaking to journalists, the Chairman of the ADC Congress Committee in the state, Ishaya Bauka (Rtd), clarified that the exercise is being conducted strictly in line with the party’s constitution and approved timetable.

According to him, the congresses began on April 7 and will culminate in the party’s national convention scheduled for April 14. He emphasized that activities are progressing smoothly across all levels, including polling units, wards, and local government areas nationwide.

Bauka dismissed claims of any court injunction as baseless, noting that the committee has not received any official communication directing a suspension of the exercise.

“The congresses remain the foundation of the party’s broader electoral process. Results from the ongoing exercise are expected to be collated by Friday ahead of the state congress slated for April 11,” he said.

He further highlighted that the ADC distinguishes itself from other political parties by maintaining functional structures at the grassroots level, where leadership positions are filled through democratic processes.

Meanwhile, prominent party figure, Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, has been actively involved in the exercise, demonstrating strong commitment to its success. Her presence, party members say, has energized supporters and reinforced the need for discipline, unity, and transparency throughout the process.

Binani urged party stakeholders to put aside differences and ensure a credible and orderly congress.

“It is time to rise above personal interests and deliver a congress that reflects fairness, order, and political maturity,” she stated.

She added that a well-organized congress would not only strengthen the party’s internal structure but also boost public confidence in its leadership and democratic values.
