Traditional Ruler Hails Indigenous Doctors as Michika General Hospital Receives Mattress Donation

The Paramount Ruler of Michika Chiefdom, Mbege Ka Michika, Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga, has commended indigenous medical doctors from the chiefdom for their generous donation of mattresses to the Michika General Hospital, aimed at addressing the critical shortage of beds in the facility.

The monarch gave the commendation during a formal ceremony attended by district heads and respected elders of the Michika Chiefdom. Calling on other stakeholders and organisations to emulate the gesture in an effort to revitalize the hospital, Professor Gadiga emphasized the importance of community support in strengthening healthcare institutions.

Michika General Hospital, one of the oldest healthcare facilities in Adamawa State, has continued to serve grassroots communities, including patients from neighbouring Borno State.

The mattress donation, facilitated by the leader of the group, Dr. Nuhu Tari, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board in Yola, is aimed at enhancing patient comfort and supporting effective medical care.

Dr. Tari noted that the gesture was made possible through the collective efforts of Michika’s indigenous doctors, who share a common goal of improving healthcare services and ensuring better welfare for patients.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Principal Medical Officer, Dr. Zamani Jacob Tizhe, expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that it would significantly reduce the burden of bed shortages. He also acknowledged the continued support of the traditional ruler, particularly in settling patients’ medical bills and providing guidance toward the hospital’s development.
