Fintiri Urges Unity, Love at Easter Service in Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has called on Nigerians to embrace love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and unity, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The governor made the appeal during the 2026 Easter Interdenominational Service organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa State chapter, held at St. Theresa Catholic Cathedral.

Represented by his deputy, Kaletapwa Farauta, Fintiri described the resurrection of Christ as a powerful symbol of hope, urging Christians to remain steadfast despite life’s challenges.

He noted that Easter represents the victory of life over death, hope over despair, and light over darkness. The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security, investing in key sectors, and implementing policies aimed at improving citizens’ welfare.

Fintiri further encouraged residents to use the Easter season as an opportunity to reconcile differences, promote unity, and work collectively towards building a peaceful and harmonious society. He also urged religious leaders to continue offering prayers for the state and the nation while promoting moral values and peaceful coexistence.

In his remarks, the Adamawa State Chairman of CAN, Joel Danjuma Manzo, said the gathering reflected Christians’ shared commitment to peace, unity, and progress. He urged believers to extend love beyond boundaries and warned against actions driven by personal interests that could undermine collective goals.

Delivering the sermon, the Dean, Gideon Samari, described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation of the Christian faith, noting that it offers believers victory and a living hope. He called on Christians to live exemplary lives and spread the gospel.

The service featured special prayers for the Adamawa State Government, divine intervention in the political process, and thanksgiving.

Also speaking, Maurice Kwairanga led prayers for the nation, its leaders, and traditional institutions, calling for unity, peace, and divine guidance in governance. He also prayed for the newly created chiefdoms in the state, seeking wisdom and cooperation among leaders and communities.

The event concluded with a renewed call for justice, harmony, and collective progress across Adamawa State.
