Good Friday: Pastor Fiyabina urges Christians to Embrace Resurrection Power.

Christians across the world are marking Good Friday, a solemn day that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and reflects on the sacrifice that brought salvation to humanity. In Yola, worshippers at Life Way Church International, Kofare, joined in the observance with prayers, reflection, and teachings centered on faith and redemption.

Delivering her message during the service, the Presiding Pastor, Reverend Fiyabina Penuel, called on believers to embrace the power of Christ’s resurrection in their daily lives. Speaking on the theme “The Resurrection Power,” she drew from Romans 8:11, stressing that the Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is what empowers Christians to overcome life’s challenges.

According to her, any Christian without the resurrection power is spiritually powerless, noting that the presence of that power enables believers to rise above limitations and difficulties. She added that the resurrection is the very foundation that makes Christianity genuine, reminding the congregation that believers are “more than conquerors through Him that loves us.”

Reverend Penuel further described Good Friday as a symbol of victory, freedom, and eternal life through the death of Christ on the cross. She urged Christians to remain steadfast in faith and live in the constant awareness of Christ’s sacrifice.

Emphasizing the significance of the day, she said, “This Good Friday, you know, it’s called a Good Friday, and if you know what happened on Good Friday, Good Friday happens to be the very day that Jesus died on the cross. So this day is so significant to us, because all of our Christian faith is anchored on this, what Jesus has done for us on the cross of Calvary.

To us, it means victory. To us, it is a gift of more than a trophy. It’s a gift of liberty, it’s a gift of love, it’s a gift of eternal life. It’s a gift of freedom from sin, from sickness. It means so much to us as Christians, because if Christ had not been crucified, we wouldn’t have been free. Whatever He suffered, He suffered for us. So we are celebrating today, because this is the day that our sins were dealt with. This was the day that our liberty was secured.”

She concluded by calling on Christians to reflect deeply on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, live righteous lives, and continue to walk in the power of His resurrection.
