Final Journey Begins for Late Baba Theman Dasu in Ganye

The  final journey of the late Baba Theman Dasu to mother earth commenced on Sunday, March 29, 2026, with the movement of his remains from the morgue at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, to his residence in Sangassumi, Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State for a wake-keep.

Family members, friends, and sympathizers gathered in large numbers to pay their last respects to the octogenarian, who passed away last week at his country home in Ganye at the age of 89.

The atmosphere at the wake was solemn yet reflective, as speakers took turns to extol the virtues of the late Baba Theman Dasu. They described him as a man of humility, compassion, and integrity, whose life left a lasting impact on his community. Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul and for God to grant his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Speaking on behalf of the Bonotem Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Solomon Nuhu expressed appreciation to all who attended the wake, noting that the life of the deceased was worthy of emulation. He emphasized that Baba Dasu’s legacy of humility, patience, and love should serve as a guiding example to others.

In his homily, Reverend Obidah Raymond urged Christians not to despair in the face of death but to anchor their hope in Christ, whom he described as the author and finisher of faith. He reminded the congregation that despite the hardships of life, believers are assured of eternal life through Christ Jesus.

The cleric further cautioned against excessive attachment to worldly pursuits, describing such a lifestyle as vanity. He called on individuals to return to God in order to inherit His kingdom, stressing that a life lived in Christ offers hope even in the face of death.

Reverend Raymond also encouraged unity, love, and peaceful coexistence among people, noting that these values form the foundation of the Christian faith.

Left to mourn late Baba Theman Dasu are 6 children, grand children and many grand children. Prominent among his children is Mrs Clara Attah Mustapha, press secretary to the wife of the Governor of Adamawa state, Lami Ahmadu Fintiri.
