2027: Shippers’ Council boss urges Ortom, Benue PDP to support Tinubu

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Pius Akutah, on Sunday urged leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Akutah made the appeal during a visit to the residence of a former Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom, where party leaders gathered for an expanded caucus meeting in the state.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by Akutah’s Personal Assistant on Media, Solomon Amande.

Speaking at the meeting, the Shippers’ Council boss said his visit was aimed at identifying with leaders and members of the PDP who had already shown support for the administration of President Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

“My presence here is to identify with leaders and members of the PDP who have already shown support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume”, the statement quoted him to have said.

Akutah also commended Ortom for what he described as his leadership during Ortom’s tenure as governor of Benue State, noting that the former governor played a significant role in defending the state’s interests.

According to him, Ortom also championed the idea of strategic partnerships as a means of fostering collaboration to acceleratde development and address security challenges confronting the state.

The Shippers’ Council chief further pointed to projects initiated by the Tinubu administration in Benue, saying such initiatives should encourage residents of the state to support the president’s re-election bid.

“I came here personally to appeal to respected leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party to adopt President Bola Tinubu as their candidate in the 2027 presidential election,” he said.

Akutah also spoke on his political ambition, noting that the call for the Kwande axis to produce the next governor of Benue State was gaining momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“As a son of Kwande, I have made myself available to serve the people if given the opportunity,” he said.

He added that he possesses the experience and credentials required to drive development in the state, protect lives and property, and ensure prosperity for the people.
