GBV MENACE: Research Team Decry More Increase in Borno Despite Interventions
A research team in Maiduguri has decried an increase in gender-based violence in Borno state despite intervention, advocacy and sensitization in affected communities.

The research team comprising of lecturers of the University of Maiduguri during a media chat noted that a conducted public perception indicated 93% residents revealed that gender-based violence made more increase over the years in affected communities.
The studies titled “Exploring Solutions to the Prevalence of Gender-Based Violence in Conflict-Affected Areas in Borno state” and ” The Dynamics of popular media in conflict content creation and mitigation among youths in two local governments of Borno state” commended stakeholders’ interventions but lamented conflicting data detailing the menace of GBV in the state.
It called on govt, NGOs and stakeholders to prioritize data gathering to help reduce number of GBV cases in affected communities.
