Fintiri: The Man They Could Not Stop” Unveiled, Spotlighting 2023 Election Drama and Democratic Resilience

A new biography titled “Fintiri: The Man They Could Not Stop” was launched on Monday 2nd February 2026, attracting a host of Nigeria’s political and traditional elite.

The book, authored by Chief Solomon Kumangar, a former Permanent Secretary in the Adamawa State Ministry of Information, chronicles the turbulent events surrounding the 2023 governorship election in the state, framing it within the wider context of Nigeria’s democratic struggles.

The event’s central figure, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, described the 2023 general election as a “defining moment” that laid bare both the resilience of the people and the fragility of the nation’s democratic culture.

He stated that while the book bears his name and image, it is ultimately a journalistic account shaped by the author’s perspective.
Governor Fintiri reflected that the election revealed “acts of intimidation, moral compromise, and desperation by political actors,” but more importantly, it “showcased the courage and resolve of the people of Adamawa.”

“The attempt to stop me cannot be told in one book. The 2023 election was only the peak of many efforts,” he noted, cautioning that threats to democracy persist. He urged citizens to remain vigilant in defending democratic values against opportunism.

In a notable display of cross-party recognition, the book was unveiled by the North-East Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Mustafa Salihu, who praised the work for documenting “courage, resilience, and democratic struggle.”

The Chairman of the occasion, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, highlighted developmental strides in Adamawa under Fintiri, including infrastructure expansion, education reforms, and improved revenue generation. He said the book captures the governor’s leadership qualities and commitment to democratic advancement.

Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, urged Nigerians to read the book, describing it as a detailed account of “governance, leadership, and political perseverance.”

The book was reviewed by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah, who commended the author’s intellectual depth and courage. He stated that the publication offers critical insights into “power, resistance, and governance within Nigeria’s democratic space.”

Author Chief Solomon Kumangar explained that his work examines the governance architecture of Adamawa State and the intense political dynamics of the 2023 elections.

The launch lived up to its billing as an event for the crème de la crème. Attendees included Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Mustafa, numerous royal fathers, politicians, party officials, and members of the public.
