Davido shares moments with Dangote at Times Square, New York

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared photos from his recent meeting with businessman and industrialist Aliko Dangote in New York.

The meeting took place in Times Square, where a Nasdaq digital billboard displayed an advertisement promoting the initial public offering of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

Davido and Dangote were pictured together during the event, which highlighted the growing international profile of Nigeria’s largest privately owned refinery and its planned public offering.

The singer shared the photos on Instagram on Thursday, reflecting on his conversation with Dangote and describing the billionaire businessman as someone with answers to the questions he had.

“When two generations of Nigerian ambition meet, the conversation is worth listening to,” Davido wrote.

The singer’s post followed an earlier video he shared showing him and Dangote standing beneath the Nasdaq billboard in Times Square. The billboard displayed the message: “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.”

Davido also referenced his discussion with Dangote about the refinery’s public offer, which opened on September 14 and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026.

The offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at N525 per share, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares.

The public offering is expected to broaden participation in the ownership of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals while increasing the company’s visibility among local and international investors.

The appearance of the refinery’s IPO campaign on the Nasdaq billboard placed the Nigerian company at one of the world’s most recognisable commercial landmarks and drew attention to Nigeria’s expanding industrial ambitions.

For Davido, the meeting also represented an encounter between two prominent Nigerians from different generations and fields—one known globally for his music and entertainment influence, and the other for building one of Africa’s largest industrial business empires.

The singer’s latest post has since generated reactions from fans and followers, many of whom praised the meeting and described it as a symbolic moment for Nigerian ambition, enterprise and global recognition.
