Adamawa Executive Council Approves N8 Billion Shuwa Bituku Road Construction, Other Projects

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved the award of contract for the construction of the 18-kilometer Shuwa Bituku road in Madagali Local Government Area at a cost of over N8 billion, alongside several other projects spread across the state.

Briefing journalists shortly after the 10th executive meeting for the year 2026 at the Government House Yola, the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Barr. Leader Leneke, disclosed that the meeting was presided over by the Governor of Adamawa State and President of the Council, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

According to the Commissioner, the Shuwa Bituku road project topped the list of approvals granted during the session.In addition to the road construction, the Council approved the construction of perimeter fencing for 20 secondary schools at a cost of over N3 billion.

Also approved was the procurement of skills starter packs valued at over N367 million for adolescent children trained under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) programme.

Barr. Leneke further stated that the Council granted administrative approvals for road marking and kerb painting at over N300 million, as well as the asphalting of the Presidential Lodge and banquet hall premises at a cost exceeding N500 million.

He also revealed that N673 million was approved as compensation for owners of shops demolished to pave the way for the construction of the Mother and Child Hospital at Target Junction in Jimeta.

The digitisation of seven Small Claims Courts under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) programme also received approval at a cost of N322 million.

The Commissioner maintained that the partial divestment of the Adamawa State Government’s investment in Dangote Sugar Refinery also received administrative approval.

Other commissioners who provided further details on the projects include the Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba Pella; the Commissioner of Works, Engr. Suleiman Mohammed; and the State Focal Person of SABER, Dr. Bello Abubakar Song.
