Six Bodies Recovered After Adamawa Boat Mishap – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that six bodies were retrieved following a tragic boat accident in Adamawa State.

The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. last Thursday, when a boat, carrying approximately 20 passengers, capsized at Garin Alhaji community, Gurin, within the Fufore Local Government Area.

NEMA disclosed that a collaborative search effort, involving the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Marine Police, and local volunteers, successfully recovered the bodies, while the search for the remaining victims continues.

“NEMA’s Yola Operations office received reports of yet another boat mishap with an undisclosed number of passengers involved.

This event, occurring around 4 p.m. yesterday, saw approximately 20 passengers on board. Presently, six bodies have been recovered by the dedicated search and rescue teams mobilized during the incident. Stakeholders involved in the response effort include ADSEMA, Marine Police, and the committed community volunteers, NEMA announced on its official platform.
