Remi Tinubu Disburses N1.9b Nationwide To Assist Elderly Citizens

A total of N1.9 billion has been disbursed nationwide by the office of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu to support elderly citizens during the yuletide.

To this end, two hundred and fifty elderly individuals aged 60 and above in each state will benefit from the scheme, including a medical outreach in all the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Associations.

The initiative demonstrates government’s commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of elderly citizens.

In Adamawa State, the governor’s wife, Hajiya Lami Umaru Fintiri, flagged off the elderly support scheme on behalf of the First Lady.

Hajiya Lami emphasized the program’s focus on supporting the elderly annually, particularly on their health.

She explained that through her office, the Fresh Air Pro-Life Empowerment Foundation, elderly citizens will benefit from a medical outreach and food distribution.

She called on stakeholders to identify and address unique challenges faced by elderly citizens in Adamawa State.

The wife of the Adamawa State governor commended the First Lady for her dedication to supporting the elderly.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Neido Kufolto, applauded the initiative, saying it will improve the lives of countless individuals.Beneficiaries, including Baba Umaru Usman and Albeta Zira, expressed gratitude for the gesture.

The theme of the exercise is: “Total Wellness.”
