PDP Vows To Ensure Killers Of PDP Hong Org. Sec Are Arrested
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) says it will ensure that killers of the Organizing Secretary of the party, Hong local government chapter of Adamawa State, Thomas Godwin alias Zamfara, who was gruesomely murdered, are brought to justice.
Speaking in an emotional tone at the burial ground on Thursday of the deceased at his hometown, Kala’a, in Hong local government area of Adamawa State, former Minister of Health, Dr. Aliyu Hong, called on the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation is carried out to unravel the perpetrators of the heinous act. Hence, to curb any reprisal from the family of the deceased.
“If perpetrators are not fished out and punished accordingly, it will allow them to do more without sparing anybody.
We strongly call on the authorities concerned to do the needful and bring the perpetrators to book for them to face justice. We, as a party, are writing a petition to the Inspector General of Police to ensure a discreet investigation is done.
“We will ensure that anybody who is involved in the murder, no matter his/her status in society, is punished based on the gravity of his/her involvement to safe guard our lives,” he said.
In a remark, the Senator representing Adamawa Central in the National Assembly, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas described the deceased as honest person, and prayed for his repose.
“Late Thomas Godwin Zamfara had told me repeatedly that some people are after him to terminate his life, we have tried all what we could to protect him, yet he was killed. We will not forgive anybody that participated in the killing.
“We will not forgive those who commit the crime, we will go at any length to ensure justice is done,” he said.
The Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley who weeps profusely due devastation caused by the death, serving and former lawmakers at State and National Assemblies, relatives, associates and colleagues attended the burial ceremony.
Meanwhile, Police have launched an investigation into the murder so as to apprehend the culprits.
The Adamawa State Police Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said detectives have been deployed to carried out discreet investigation with a view to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous act.
