Digital Technology: A Necessity, Not an Option – Adamawa State Deputy Governor

The five-day SpaceTech Hackathon and VSAT training, organized by the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) in collaboration with the Adamawa State Government, successfully concluded with a grand closing ceremony. The event marked a significant milestone in the state’s push for digital transformation and technological empowerment.

The closing ceremony was graced by the Adamawa State Governor, who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta. In her keynote address, she commended the leadership of NIGCOMSAT for aligning with Adamawa State’s vision for digital transformation. She emphasized that digital technology is no longer an option but a necessity and lauded the program for providing a platform for the youth of Adamawa to transform themselves through innovation and skills development.

Professor Farauta reiterated Adamawa State’s readiness for similar collaborations in the future and urged the participants to seek the next big innovation. She concluded by expressing gratitude to NIGCOMSAT for initiating and supporting such a transformative program.

NIGCOMSAT’s Commitment to Innovation and Empowerment

In her keynote address, the Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in demonstrating leadership in technology and development. She highlighted NIGCOMSAT’s mission to challenge the existing narratives and bridge the digital divide, especially at the grassroots level.

She emphasized that the organization’s goal is not only to provide empowerment opportunities but also to encourage participants to leverage their new skills for entrepreneurship, drive economic growth, create jobs, and develop innovative solutions. Mrs. Jane assured that this initiative is just the beginning, as NIGCOMSAT remains committed to supporting innovation and future collaborations with Adamawa State.

SSG Applaud the Initiative

Hon. Auwal D Tukur,  the Secretary to the Government of Adamawa State, (SSG), delivered a goodwill message, appreciating the organizers for their innovative approach in empowering the youth. He acknowledged the impact of the initiative in positioning Adamawa as a technological hub.

In his opening remarks, the Senior Special Adviser  (SSA) to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on ICT, e-governance, and police, Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu , encouraged participants to continue seeking knowledge in the ever-evolving world of technology. He expressed gratitude to the leadership of NIGCOMSAT and emphasized that Adamawa State is embracing the future of technology.

Participants Receive Certificates and Toolkits

To mark the successful completion of the program, participants were awarded certificates of participation along with toolkits for VSAT installation. These tools will enable them to apply their newly acquired skills and kickstart their careers in space technology and digital innovation.

With such initiatives, Adamawa State is solidifying its commitment to technological advancement, youth empowerment, and digital inclusion. The collaboration between NIGCOMSAT and the state government is a testament to the potential of innovation in driving economic growth and development.
