Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has emerged victorious at his polling unit. The PDP received 127 votes, significantly outpacing the APC, which garnered 35 votes. The Labour Party (LP) secured 11 votes at polling unit PU19, Ward 04, Oredo LGA. After casting his vote, Obaseki praised the electoral process at his location, noting the remarkable turnout of voters despite the heavy rain affecting the state. He stated, “You can see that despite the adverse weather, people have shown up in large numbers. The enthusiasm is evident.

“It’s not yet midday, and already the ballot box in my polling unit is full. This clearly indicates that the public is very engaged and has been mobilized for this election. Thus, I am not surprised by this turnout.

“Overall, I am pleased with what I’ve observed. The voting process in my unit has been smooth, and I hope the collation will proceed in the same manner—peacefully, with all results counted without disruption.

“I appreciate the significant military presence in the state. As you know, federal security agencies have taken charge here. I am not the Chief Security Officer of the state; that role belongs to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).”
