Edo Polls: Davido slams Police spokesman for asking voters to return home after casting

Award-winning musician David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has voiced his frustration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the Edo State governorship election process. Drawing on his experiences from the Osun State elections, Davido urged the electoral commission to rectify ongoing issues. He tweeted, “Bruh, #inecnigeria fix up! We can’t continue like this… wtf. My mum is from Edo, for those wondering why I’m interested in the election, but we as Nigerians should be concerned. #inecnigeria shame on you. I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us.”

His comments came in response to Deputy Inspector General of Police Frank Mba, who advised voters to return home immediately after casting their ballots. During an interview with Channels Television, Mba emphasized that Edo residents should fulfill their civic duty and then leave, while also announcing a ban on vehicular movement from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day. He stated, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be out on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; it’s your civic duty.”

Davido, who supports the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Asue Ighodalo, disagreed with Mba’s suggestion, suggesting instead that voters should stay at their polling units. He humorously tweeted, “Loooooooool, go where???
