Adamawa Guber: S/Court Set to Hear Dr Umar Ardo’s Case Against Gov. Fintiri, Others
The apex court of Nigeria is set to hear the appeal filed by SDP gubernatorial candidate in the Adamawa governorship election that held last year, Dr Umar Ardo.
This is contained in a social media (Facebook) post by Dr Umar Ardo who was quoted by CAMAA MEDIA to have said:
“Our Appeal/Cross Appeal on the Adamawa State Governorship Election has been fixed for hearing by the Supreme Court on Wednesday, 10th January, 2024. Allah sa mu ji alheri. Ameen!”
Recall that CAMAA MEDIA has reported the appeal filed by Dr Umar Ardo in both Federal and Appeal Courts.
Dr Ardo, who was 3rd runner up in the election that held on 18th March 2023 where the election was declared inconclusive after a controversial declaration by the Adamawa REC Barr Hudu-Ari Yunus, declaring the APC’s Aishatu Binani as winner of the March election.
INEC suspended the rogue REC, Barr Hudu-Ari Yunus who is now facing prosecution in the Federal Higher Court Yola.
INEC later conducted an inconclusive elections on 15th April 2023 where it declared Gov Ahamdu Fintir of PDP as winner of the election.
Dr Ardo earlier demanded that the lower courts to nullify the Adamawa gubernatorial election and order fresh one. Although he lost in both federal and appeal courts, but Dr Ardo is someone people believe to be a notorious litigant who will exhaust the judicial process in pursuit of justice!
This is evident in a book he authored in 2019 titled “Court and Politics: Chronicling My Experience in The Nigerian Theatre”
