Taraba Governor Kefas Meets President Tinubu After Defection to APC
Taraba State Governor, Abu Kefas, visited President Bola Tinubu on Monday at the State House in Abuja—marking his first meeting with the President since his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Kefas arrived in the company of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who accompanied him to the President’s office on the first floor of the Villa.
Kefas was originally slated to be officially welcomed into the APC during a reception rally on November 19, 2025. However, the event was postponed following the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
While details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed, sources told THISDAY that Prof. Yilwatda used the visit to formally present Kefas to President Tinubu as the newest governor to join the ruling party.
President Tinubu was also reportedly briefed on plans to hold a grand reception in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, where Governor Kefas will be officially received into the APC on December 6, 2025.
