Adamawa State Sports Council collaborate with NIS Lagos, holds 5-day workshop for coaches, games masters, others

Adamawa State Sports Council in conjunction with the National Institute for Sports, Lagos has organised a 5-day capacity training workshop for coaches, sports administrators, game masters, physical and health education teachers in Yola, Adamawa State capital.

Addressing participants at the occasion, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Barr. Yakubu Wali urged them to utilise what they learnt from the training at their respective destinations and implement it as well in order to promote sporting activities in the State.

Barr. Wali commended the effort of the participants for their commitment, patience and dedication. “I believe they have gained a lot of knowledge from the training”, he addded.

He applauded government effort for providing funds to support the training in order to update the younger generation on the current development in sport arena.

Barr. Wali said that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is making efforts to revive sports activities in Adamawa State to enable it compete favourably with the best global standard, where he encouraged coaches to work hard by thinking outside the box and come out with new innovations that will bring more development as far as sport is concerned.

While addressing journalists at the occasion, Barr. Wali disclosed that Adamawa State would soon have a befitting stadium and the project of the modern stadium would commence on 1st May, 2024.

The Commissioner encouraged various football teams in the State to work hard and come back home with gold, silver, medal and browns whenever they embark on a competition, Adamawa Sports Council will place them on salary automatically.

The Youths and Sports Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the turnout of the participants, saying he was pleased with their number as they came out beyond expectations.

He applauded the organisers and the National Institute of Sports, Lagos for an outstanding performance, urging the participants to utilize this opportunity to tap from the reservoir to broaden their knowledge.

He commended Governor Fintiri for making sport one of his priorities and by given the Sector the needed attention.

He called on stakeholders to invest in sports because of its benefits to the society; it promotes health, unity among others.

He thanked the Fresh-Air Government for rehabilitating and renovating so many facilities at the Adamawa Sports Council, adding that the gesture would continue to be a mark of legacy for the Fintiri-led Administration.

On his part, Adamawa State Sports Director, Daniel Ahmed commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for providing necessary support to ensure the success of the training.

He expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the participants and called on them to maintain the spirit, where he described athletes as the best as he urged the participants to use the knowledge being obtaines during the training and improve their skills.

In his effort to promote sporting activities in the State, the Adamawa State Director Sports Council, Daniel Ahmed said that the Sector is making efforts to liaise with Director Sports across the 21 LGAs to assist game masters in various secondary schools to boost sporting activities in the State which he revealed was one of the essence of organizing the seminar.

After the workshop, certificate of attendance were given to the participants that came across the 21 LGAs in the State.
