Adamawa Dep Gov. Farauta, Commissioners Leads Sanitation in Yola

Adhering to the directive and approval of His Excellency, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri earlier this year, on the need to keeping streets in the state capital and environs clean, Her Excellency, the Deputy Governor – Professor Kaletapwa G. Farauta accompanied by Hon Adamu Atiku Abubakar, Hon Umar Garba Pella PhD, Barr Wali Yakubu, Hon Aloysius Babadoke, Hon Ishaya Dabari and the entire state executive council, flagged-off the cleaning/desilting exercise today in Yola (the state capital) at the Total Flyover.
To effectively carry out the exercise, the Hon commissioner of Environment – Hon Muhammed Sadiq approved the engagement of five hundred ADHOC staffs for the cleaning/desilting of streets and drainages in the state capital. However, considering the magnitude of how the streets have been littered, the Deputy Governor gave a standing order on the cleaning exercise has to be trice a week through December period while from next year, it will be twice weekly.
The cleaning and desilting exercise is indeed a serious business as the Deputy Governor and the state Executive council have all turned to a street trash collectors today. Therefore, for the purpose of keeping rules and regulations concerning trash disposal, the Ministry of Environment is going charge of that. Hence, state marshals and the police will be tasked to oversee the streets cleanliness maintenance, and apprehend defaulters for necessary action.
