Yobe Health Ministry Finalizes 2026 Operational Plan to Strengthen Healthcare Delivery

The Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services has successfully wrapped up a five-day workshop in Kano dedicated to finalizing and validating the 2026 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) for the state’s health sector.

The high-level workshop brought together government officials, legislators, technocrats, heads of health agencies, training institutions, directors, and program officers. Participants reviewed findings from situation analyses across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), ensuring that the AOP aligns with both state and national health priorities.

The gathering also fostered collaboration among MDAs and development partners, focused on designing strategies to tackle pressing health challenges, and produced a comprehensive roadmap to improve healthcare outcomes in Yobe State.

Development partners supporting healthcare in the state actively engaged in the process, underscoring the collaborative spirit that defined the workshop.

Addressing participants, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, emphasized that the 2026 AOP will serve as a strategic tool for advancing access, efficiency, and quality in healthcare delivery.

He commended the commitment of all stakeholders and expressed optimism that the collective expertise and resources harnessed during the workshop would drive significant progress in safeguarding the health and well-being of Yobe citizens.

The Permanent Secretary, Isa Bukar, also lauded the dedication of participants, describing the exercise as a major milestone in the state’s health sector planning and a step forward in building a healthier future for Yobe.
