Vice President Shettima Represents Nigeria at the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos

Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). This prestigious event, which gathers global leaders, business executives, and development partners, aims to tackle critical economic challenges and explore strategies for sustainable growth on a national and global scale.

During his time in Davos, Shettima will engage in several key discussions and bilateral meetings designed to promote Nigeria’s economic prospects and address global risks. A standout event on his agenda is a workshop organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the WEF, focused on “Co-creating Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets.” This session will explore ways to channel capital into Africa to support inclusive development and resilience.

Another significant initiative is the launch of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, aimed at strengthening public-private partnerships and attracting investment into the continent’s emerging markets. Shettima will also co-chair a forum titled “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” which will discuss the role of the private sector in driving the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, adopted by the African Union in January 2024.

Additionally, the Vice President will attend the Annual Meeting 2025 Crystal Awards dinner for heads of state and international leaders, as well as participate in a panel on “Global Risks 2025.” This session will address pressing geopolitical, technological, and environmental risks impacting the global stage.

Shettima is accompanied by top Nigerian government officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC). After his engagements in Davos, the Vice President will return to Abuja.
