ADAS Programme Set to Enhance and Sustain MCRP Projects in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Agribusiness Support (ADAS-P) is poised to enhance and sustain the significant achievements of the Multi-sectorial Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP), which focuses on improving market access and value chains across Adamawa State. This was disclosed by Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai, the Chief Operating Officer of the ADAS Programme, during a meeting with the MCRP management in Yola.

Gafai detailed that the ADAS Programme is actively intervening in seven key areas, including establishing standard structures and databases, and improving access to markets and finance by providing collateral. Among its other notable achievements are the establishment of the Adamawa State Agribusiness Cooperative Financing Agency, fostering partnerships and collaborations, and promoting 140 cooperative societies through traditional institutions and farmer clustering.

Highlighting further initiatives, Gafai mentioned that ADAS Programme has entered into agreements with specialists to promote beekeeping and fishing, among other activities.

The Technical Coordination Specialist for MCRP Adamawa, Mr. Julius Mbidomti, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with ADAS-P, recognizing market access and value chain development as critical priorities. Mbidomti, clearly delighted, emphasized the readiness of MCRP to collaborate with ADAS-P in these areas.

The MCRP leadership is also focused on setting up mini-factories and rehabilitating those affected by insurgency within the state. This effort is part of their broader strategy to rebuild and enhance local agribusiness.

Adding to this, Hassan Missari from MCRP shared that they are currently training over 100 extension workers in crop and livestock management. This training is expected to significantly boost agribusiness activities throughout Adamawa State.
