Stir360 Award: ‘Don’t wish for inclusion, pursue it’, Prof Farauta tells women -Camaa Tv

The First Female Deputy Governor of Adamawa State and Northeast Nigeria who doubles as an academic juggernaut, Professor Kaletapwa G. Farauta has urged women across the nation to “pursue inclusion” not “wish for it”

She made the statement while giving her remarks at the Stir360 Award that held yesterday in Yola, the State capital.

Stir360, a popular print and digital magazine with interest in Art, Fashion, Music, News and Politics held yet another edition of its annual awards recognizing the achievements, contributions and future of people who have distinguished themselves in their field of careers across the northeast.

Yesterday Monday April 1st, the magazine honored Prof Farauta for her doggedness, breaking barriers as she roused from a class teacher to becoming the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State.

Stir360 in their social media post expressed why Prof Farauta is worthy of their recognition and why they dedicated their editorial page titled “From An Academic To A Political Heroine” due to her outstanding performance over the years. The statement said:

“Welcome to the Stir360 Award edition of our magazine, where we celebrate Women’s History Month with utmost reverence. As we embark on this journey of honoring the remarkable contributions of women, it’s imperative to reflect on the profound words delivered by Her Excellency Professor Kaletapwa G. Farauta, the first female deputy governor in northeast Nigeria.

“Her call for women to not merely wish for inclusion but to actively pursue it through unwavering dedication and hard work resonates deeply with us.” It added.

Farauta, who hails from Numan LGA holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension from University of Nigeria Unsukka between 1989 and 1995 respectively. Farauta held the position of Executive Chairman at the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) from July to October 2014. On August 28, 2015, she began her tenure as the Honourable Commissioner for the Adamawa State Ministry of Higher Education and concluded her service on July 17, 2017.

As of July 17, 2017, she was appointed as the acting vice chancellor of Adamawa State University by the then governor, Senator Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow. Eventually, she was officially appointed as the vice chancellor by Ahmadu Fintiri.

By some twist of fate, Farauta was named the running mate of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri while contesting for his second tenure in the 2023 elections under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that there was an election uprise that led to the declaration of the Adamawa governorship election inconclusive, when the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Hudu Yunusa-Ari went rogue, declaring the winner before final collation of results. A situation that made INEC to suspend him and declared the election “Inconclusive”

Farauta has been by the side of the Governor throughout this political imbroglio, supporting the Governor reclaim their hard earned victory. From campaign, election tribunal up to the supreme court.
