Police rescued 3-year-old boy sold by mother in Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully rescued a three-year-old boy named Friday Okonkwo, who was abducted and sold for N410,000.
The child was taken by 24-year-old Blessing Okonkwo and sold to 35-year-old Efunaya Nabufe, both residents of Mubi North LGA in Adamawa State.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, announced the recovery in a statement to the press in Yola, Adamawa State. He explained that investigations led to the boy being found with Efunaya Nabufe, who had taken him to her sister in Enugu State.
Further investigation revealed that Blessing Okonkwo, who sold the child to Efunaya, is actually the boy’s biological mother, despite initially claiming to be his sister.
It was discovered that Hauwa Lawan, who initially claimed to be the mother, is in fact the boy’s grandmother. Blessing had the child in 2019 after being impregnated by someone named Aboi from Onitsha.
