Police Nab Five in Mubi North Over Armed Robbery Allegations, Recover Weapons

The  Adamawa State Police Command has arrested five individuals suspected to be part of a notorious armed robbery gang operating in Mubi North Local Government Area. The arrests, made on April 10, 2025, underscore ongoing efforts by security operatives to clamp down on violent crime across the region.

The suspects—identified as Muhammad Ali, 60; Kalifa Muhammed, 20; Nuhu Muhammed, 22; Jamilu Muhammad, 22; and Abdullahi Isa, 18—were apprehended following credible intelligence linking them to a string of robberies that have left many residents in fear.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Adamawa State, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were caught red-handed with a number of dangerous weapons. Among the items recovered during the operation were sharp daggers, knives, and face masks—items allegedly used to intimidate and attack their victims while stealing valuables such as mobile phones, cash, and household items.

Nguroje explained that the arrests came as a result of a well-coordinated effort by officers from the Mubi North Division who had been tracking the movements of the suspects for days.

He further assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of preliminary inquiries. The police are also working to identify other possible members of the gang who may still be at large.

This development comes amid heightened concerns over security challenges in parts of northern Adamawa, where cases of robbery and theft have occasionally disrupted daily life and economic activities. However, the recent success by the police has been met with praise from community members, who say they hope this signals a return to safer streets and villages.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or persons to law enforcement authorities, as part of a broader community-policing effort aimed at curbing criminal behavior.

The Adamawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens and called for continued public cooperation to help drive out criminal elements from the society.
